New piano duo four hands with David Salmon

After obtaining his « prix de piano » with unanimous distinction at the Pôle Superieur Paris Boulogne-Billancourt, Davie Salmon has been accepted at the Conservatoire Superieur of Paris in 2013, studying under Hortence Cartier-Bresson. During his studies, David has occasions to work with famous pianists like Florent Boffard, Dominique Merlet, Alexei Lubinov or Alain Planes. He recently played with orchestra in Rachmaninov 2d concerto and Poulenc concerto for two pianos.

It is while a summer musical academy in 2012 where we met, that we realized we share the same approach of the keyboard. Our complementary conception of the range of color and the sound then made us think « we should work together ». That’s why I am very happy to announce the creation of our Duo four-hands. Our first venue will be in Aix en Provence, on the 29th of June.

28th/02 Runner-up at the English Song Competition

I am delighted to receive the second price of the accompaniment award for my performance at the English Song RCM Competition. I am also extremely proud of the baryton I was accompanying, the very talented Huw Montague Rendall who won the competition with his amazing performance of Peter Warlock and Quilter.

A new exciting project to start this first year in the Mperf accompaniment course of the Royal College of Music. I am now working with the violinist Anaïs Boyadjieva, currently studying with Radu Blidar. Anais Boyadjieva is born in Paris, where she studied the piano and the violin until 2010.
She studied in the Paris and Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoires, where she had the opportunity to learn and take part in masterclasses with great soloists and pedagogues such as Svetlin Roussev, Alexis Galperine, Sarah Nemtanu, Stephan Picard, Regis Pasquier and Philippe Koch.
In 2010, she entered in the Strasbourg Conservatoire to study under Alexis Galperine, and has had the opportunity to take part in various projects with the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra.
Anais is very interested in chamber music and orchestra. She has performed in numerous venues and festivals in France, such as Theatre Dejazet, Grand Palais, Carré Belle-Feuille, Eglise Saint-Roch and Temple des Batignolles.
She joined the Royal College of Music in September 2013, and is currently studying under Radu Blidar.

We are now forming the Violin-Piano duo Otvor.

August and After

I am very glad to announce my new collaboration with the band August and After as a keyboard player. We’ll have exciting venues in the next months, including a residence at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London. August and After are regularly playing with the very talented string players from the Cosmopolitan Quartet, and I am delighted to join the team for next live performances and recordings. I would like to thanks August and After for their confidence in my work.

07/05 Film Orchestra

I was again invited to play with the Film Orchestra, for its second concert this year. Programmed: James Bond, Madagascar, Back to the future and many other great film music.

We could also hear Vincenzo Bellomo’s music for the short Italien film Suddenly dead.

17/04 Composition for screen Show Case at RCM

The composition for screen Show Case for which I was invited to play, is an annual event which allow the audience to discover composition for screen student’s works. The show was taking place at the RCM Britten Theatre. The audience could see the movies with the original musics on live thanks to the orchestra, in which I was performing. We were conducted by the composer Pierre O’Reilly, also one of the Live Film Orchestra founder based in London :

A live film music performance is a highly intense experience for musiciens, as the music must perfectly match with the videos. Thanks to everybody’s great work, it has been a very successful concert.

8/03 Film music recording

I had again the opportunity to work with the composer Vincenzo Bellomo, for whom I recorded on the 8th. Vincenzo has been chosen to create music for the new short film of a young Italian director. I will publish the link and the video as soon as all edits will be done.

28/02 Solo recording

First solo recording at the RCM studios. Programmed : Darkness Visible T. Ades, Variations-Etudes and Jeux de doubles from T. Escaich. Three hours recording, amasingly leaded by the cd producer Julian Toha, who I warmly thanks, and with the very useful help of Amy Blier-Carruthers and Ben Connellan. 25/02 1st Prize at the Contemporary Competition

The RCM’s Contemporary Competition 2013 first price was awarded to me last monday, 25th of February. This competition which was taking place in the Amaryllis Fleming Hall was dedicated to pianists interested in contemporary music. We could notice a great diversity, listening to electronic-acoustic music, but also works composed by candidates. My program was choose to carry different country’s sonorities : Japan with Litany’s Takemitsu, England with Darkness visible and France with Escaich’s Variations-Etudes and Jeux de doubles. I had the privilege to receive the Jean and John Redcliffe prize for the best performance, performing this repertoire. It is also a part of the program I am going to record on the 28th of next February in the RCM studios.

30/01 Film music recording

Vincenzo Bellomo, for whom I recorded the 30th of January, is an Italian composer for screen, currently finishing his studies at the RCM. The music he composed for this recording, is made to fit with extracts from the movie Luzhin Defence. You will be able to listen an extract of this piano recording in my new website’s heading: “multimedia”. We are looking forward the orchestra recording on the 8th of March.

28/01 Training to production

After my first steps on the RCM studios, I have now opened engineers control room’s door for one day, to produce Joan Martinez’s CD, violinist at the RCM. Joan was playing Sibelius concerto first movement and Mozart concerto first movement in A major. Three hours recording supervised by Amy Blier-Carruthers and Ben Connellan. Musical production is a very interesting and exhausting job.
